AGENDA- SPELLING ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS



SPELLING RACES

Ask a parent or friend to choose a word from your spelling list and give you a time limit of 30 seconds. See how many times you can write the word.


UPPER AND LOWER CASE

Write two lists of your spelling words, the first in UPPER case and the second in lower case.


BE THE TEACHER

Ask a parent or friend to write out some of your spelling words, but with one or two mistakes. It’s your turn to be a teacher and mark the spelling, correcting the mistakes.


VOWELS AND CONSONANTS

Write each of your spelling words using a red pen/pencil for consonants and blue pen/pencil for vowels.


USE A COMPUTER

Write the spelling words on a computer. Write sentences using your spelling words. 


BACKWARDS WORDS

Write your spelling words forwards and then backwards. Remember to write neatly!

OTHER HANDED

Write each word 5 times, switching the hand you write it with each time. Say the word as you spell it.  


ARTY SPELLING

Cut out letters from newspapers and magazines and spell your spelling words. Stick them into a piece of paper and bring them to class.


DICTIONARY RACES

Choose a word and time yourself to see how long it takes you to find it in a dictionary. See if you can beat that time the next day!
